At 52-stories, 555 California Street tower was once the tallest building on the West Coast. For over 20 years Huntsman has provided building architect services for multiple owners including leasing support, tenant improvements, as well as design of common areas and capital project assistance. The most recent enhancements include the light-filled main plaza lobby, where careful consideration was given to the design and selection of new lighting, furniture, and an updated material palette to brighten and modernize the space.

Despite a lack of daylight and a complex multi-level circulation pattern, the 12,000 square foot subterranean retail concourse is transformed into a destination and community amenity for tenants and visitors. A complete interior renovation included new stone floors and walls contrasted by custom bronze retail storefronts. Dramatic illuminated ceiling panels elegantly define the passage space. Public seating alcoves offer comfortable areas for socialization, respite, or a touchdown workspace.
The redevelopment extends to the exterior where a new canopy and signage element on one end leads visitors through the concourse to a vibrant exterior plaza on the other side. Here, a "parklet" design features inviting new outdoor seating and landscape elements for passersby to enjoy.
